Why we rate it

For curly and coarse hair that feels stripped after shampooing, a cowash cleans the scalp without the lather. It's a creamy cleansing conditioner: apply a generous amount to wet hair, massage it well into the scalp and through the lengths, then rinse thoroughly. Don't expect foam; it isn't meant to lather. Curls are left softer, easier to detangle and less frizzy. Most people alternate it with Lavender Mint Moisturizing Shampoo about once a week to keep the scalp properly fresh.

Take your time: massage it into the scalp with your fingertips for a minute or two so it can lift oil and product, then rinse really thoroughly.
