Terms of service

These terms apply when you buy products from our online shop at thecolor.uk. Please read them before you order. Together with our Shipping policy, Refund policy and Privacy policy, they set out the agreement between you and us.

Last updated: 11 October 2026

1. About us

The Color is the trading name of THE COLOR (BRIDLINGTON) LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 05612741). Our registered office is 55 Flamborough Road, Bridlington, YO15 2JH, which is also our salon. We have been a Paul Mitchell Signature Salon since 2006.

You can contact us by email at info@thecolor.uk, by phone on 01262 671167, or by post at the address above. If we need to contact you, we'll use the email address, phone number or postal address you gave us with your order.

2. Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. For free, independent advice about your rights, contact Citizens Advice.

These terms are for customers buying for their own personal use. They don't cover salon appointments.

3. Placing an order

  • You must be 18 or over to place an order.
  • Our shop is for personal and household use. We may decline orders that appear to be for resale.
  • To order, add products to your basket, go to checkout, enter your contact and delivery details, choose delivery or Click & Collect, and pay.
  • Checkout shows you a summary of your order before you pay, so you can check it and correct any mistakes.
  • After you place your order, we'll email you an order confirmation. Our contract with you starts when we send that email.
  • We keep a record of your order. You can see its details in your order confirmation email and, if you have an account, in your account. We don't send a separate copy of these terms, so please save or print a copy for your records.
  • If we can't accept or fulfil your order, for example because an item is out of stock or the delivery address is outside the UK, we'll tell you and won't charge you. If you've already paid, we'll refund you in full.

Our contract with you is in English.

4. Our products

We describe and photograph our products as accurately as we can. Colours can look slightly different on screen, and manufacturers sometimes change packaging.

Manufacturers can also change product formulas. Always check the ingredients on the pack before use, especially if you have allergies or sensitive skin, and follow the instructions on the pack.

Hair care advice on our website and blog is general information, not medical advice. If you have a scalp or skin condition, please speak to a pharmacist or doctor.

5. Prices and payment

  • Our prices are in pounds sterling.
  • Delivery charges are shown at checkout before you pay. See our Shipping policy.
  • The price you pay is the price shown when you place your order. We may change prices from time to time, but this won't affect orders we've already confirmed.
  • You can pay using the methods shown at checkout: debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, PayPal and Klarna. If you choose Klarna or PayPal, your arrangement with them is covered by their own terms.

Pricing mistakes. We work hard to get our prices right, but mistakes can happen. If the correct price of an item is lower than the price shown when you order, we'll charge you the lower price. If there's an obvious pricing mistake that you could reasonably have recognised as a mistake, we may cancel your order, even after we've confirmed it, and refund everything you've paid. If you've already received the items, we'll arrange their return at our cost.

6. Codes

If we give you a code, it comes with its own conditions, such as an end date or a minimum spend. We show these with the code, and we'll honour it in line with them.

7. Delivery and Click & Collect

We deliver to addresses in the UK only. Delivery charges, dispatch times, delivery times and Click & Collect are explained in our Shipping policy.

  • Your order is our responsibility until it's delivered to you, or to someone you've named to receive it, or until you collect it.
  • The products become yours once we've received full payment.
  • If we haven't delivered your order within 30 days of you placing it, you can cancel it and get a full refund.
  • If something outside our control, such as severe weather or a problem with a delivery company, delays your order, we'll let you know as soon as we can and do what we can to reduce the delay. If the delay is significant, you can contact us to cancel and get a refund for anything you haven't received.

8. Cancelling and returning an order

You have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. We also accept unopened, unused products back: you have 30 days after delivery or collection to ask for a return. Our Refund policy explains how to cancel, how to send items back and how refunds work. It also explains the one exception to the right to cancel, which is a sealed hair or beauty product that you've unsealed, and includes the model cancellation form.

9. Faulty products

We're legally required to supply products that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If something is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered, you're entitled to a full refund if you tell us within 30 days of receiving it, and you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund after that. These rights apply to everything we sell, including bundles and subscription deliveries. See our Refund policy for details.

10. Our responsibility to you

If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we're responsible for any loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it's obvious that it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when the contract was made. We're not responsible for loss or damage that isn't foreseeable.

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • breach of your legal rights in relation to the products, including the right to receive products that are as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose;
  • defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

We only supply products for domestic and private use. We're not responsible to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.

11. Using our website

The text, images, design and other content on our website belong to us or the people who license them to us. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't copy, scrape or reuse them without our permission, or try to interfere with or gain unauthorised access to our website. Paul Mitchell and its product names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners.

We try to keep our website available and up to date, but we can't promise that it will always be available or free from errors. Where we link to other websites, such as our social media pages, we're not responsible for their content.

12. Your personal information

Our Privacy policy explains how we use your personal information.

13. Complaints

If you're unhappy with anything, please tell us by email at info@thecolor.uk or by phone on 01262 671167. We'll reply as soon as we can and aim to put things right quickly.

If we can't resolve your complaint, we'll tell you in writing. We'll also tell you whether an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider can help, and whether we'll use it. You can also get free advice from Citizens Advice.

14. Other important terms

  • Our shop platform. Our shop runs on Shopify. Your contract is with us, not with Shopify.
  • Transferring this agreement. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation. If we do, we'll tell you in writing and make sure the transfer doesn't reduce your rights. You may transfer your rights under these terms to someone else only with our written agreement.
  • Nobody else has rights under these terms. This contract is between you and us. No other person has any right to enforce it.
  • If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest will continue to apply.
  • Delays in enforcing these terms. If we don't insist straight away that you do something you're required to do, or if we delay taking steps against you, we can still do so later.
  • Changes to these terms. We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change, we'll tell you clearly, for example on our website or by email. The terms that apply to your order are the ones shown on our website when you place it. If you have a subscription, we'll email you at least 14 days before a change to these terms applies to your future deliveries, so you can skip or cancel first.
  • Which laws apply and where you can bring proceedings. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings about your order in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring them in Scotland or in England and Wales. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring them in Northern Ireland or in England and Wales.

15. Subscribe & save

Where we offer Subscribe & save on a single product, you'll see the option on its product page. If you subscribe, this section applies as well as the rest of these terms.

  • Which products. Subscribe & save is for single products only. It isn't available on bundles, duos, kits or gift sets.
  • How often. When you subscribe, you choose to receive a delivery every 4, 6, 8 or 12 weeks.
  • Price. Each delivery costs 15% less than the product's listed price when you subscribe. The 15% comes off the product price, not delivery. If our listed price for the product goes down, we'll lower your subscription price to match before your next order. If it goes up, we'll email you at least 14 days before the higher price applies, so you can skip or cancel first. If you subscribed when the saving was lower, we'll move your subscription to the 15% saving before your next order.
  • Delivery. Every Subscribe & save delivery, including the first, comes with free UK standard delivery, whatever its value.
  • Reminders. We'll email you a few days before each delivery's order is placed, so you can skip, change or cancel it in time.
  • Payment. You pay for your first delivery at checkout. For each later delivery, we take payment on its order date using the payment method you saved when you subscribed. Checkout shows which payment methods can be used for a subscription. If we can't take payment, we won't send that delivery, and we'll let you know.
  • Out of stock. If a product is out of stock on an order date, we won't charge you for it. We'll try again for a few days and let you know if that delivery has to be skipped.
  • Skip, pause or cancel any time. You can skip a delivery, pause or cancel your subscription at any time from your account, with no fee. If you can't sign in, email info@thecolor.uk and we'll help. A skip or cancellation applies to deliveries whose order hasn't been placed yet.
  • Each delivery is an order. Each delivery is placed as a separate order. You can cancel it within 14 days of receiving it, in the same way as any other order (see section 8 and our Refund policy). Your rights for faulty, damaged or wrong items apply to every delivery.
  • Changes to Subscribe & save. We may change or end Subscribe & save. If a change affects your subscription, we'll email you at least 14 days before it applies, so you can skip or cancel first.

16. The Color Circle

The Color Circle is our free loyalty programme. It has its own terms, which you'll find on The Color Circle terms page. Those terms apply to the programme as well as these terms. If you place an order with us, you're automatically a member, and you can leave at any time.

  • Points. You earn 1 point for every whole £1 you pay for products in one-off orders at thecolor.uk, and more at times or tiers set out in the programme's terms. Subscribe & save orders, and orders that include a Subscribe & save item, don't earn points. Points are added when your order is sent or collected, and removed if it's returned or cancelled. There are no points for joining.
  • Reward codes. 100 points can be exchanged for a £10 off code, and other rewards are listed in the programme's terms. A code follows those terms, including its minimum order (four times its value), its 3-month end date, the rule that it can't be combined with other codes and the rule that it can't be used on Subscribe & save.
  • Expiry. Points expire if you don't place an order, earn points for an introduction or use points for 12 months.
  • No cash value. Points have no cash value. They can't be exchanged for money, transferred to anyone else or sold.
  • Changes. We'll give at least 30 days' notice of any change to the programme that takes something away from members. Points you've already earned keep their value.
  • Who runs it. The Color Circle is our own programme. It isn't run or endorsed by Paul Mitchell.
